Large-scale Analyses from ECMWF - Last Week
The following are plots constructed from the ECMWF large-scale analyses. Data are supplied by Paul Berrisford of NCAS-Climate. Plots are constructed from code written by Nick Klingaman. Questions and comments concerning this page should be directed to Nick Klingaman.
Plots are available on this page for the week just past, beginning one week ago last Friday at 00Z. While the data used to construct the plots are available every six hours, the plots themselves are typically refreshed every day around 5Z. The input data are on a gaussian grid with a spatial resolution of 1.125 degrees latitude by 1.125 degrees longitude.
Two types of graphics are available: raw analyses and anomalies from a monthly climatology. (Paul Berrisford constructed the monthly climatologies from the ERA-40 record. ERA-40 data are available from this site.) Both the raw analyses and anomalies are available as animations of the six-hourly data and as static images of the weekly mean (to date). Timeseries of anomalies for the grid box closest to Reading are also available. All images are in GIF.
The same plots are also available for this week, beginning this past Friday at 00Z.
We also maintain an archive of graphics and data for past weeks. This archive is cleared irregularly, depending on available disk space.
Note for Firefox users: As installed on the Department systems, Firefox will only loop through each animation once. To enable multiple passes through an animation, follow these directions.
