Conditions for the use of data by third parties and commercial organisations
Our data is usually available for genuine scientific research, although we make no guarantees about its accuracy or reliability. Clearly there is large investment of our time and resources in keeping this system operational. In using it, the following conditions apply:
- In published work the source of the data must be acknowledged, including either the phrase "These observations were obtained by the automatic measurement system of the Department of Meteorology at University of Reading". or by citing in the reference list Personal Communication with R.G. Harrison, giving the date the data was obtained and the web address of our Field Site website.
- The data may not used to produce stand-alone time series of quantities directly recorded at the field site without prior agreement. For example it would not be acceptable to publish a plot of temperature or wind speed at Reading. However they may be published in a comparison with other data sets or theoretical predictions, as part of an analysis.
We retain the copyright on the data at all points. The conditions above are those under which we grant permission for its use, in the absence of any other arrangements.
