Energetics and thermodynamics of stratified turbulence, driving mechanisms of the meridional overturning circulation, oceanic Rossby waves, propagation of density-compensated T/S anomalies, physically-based parameterizations of subgridscale processes, stability of oceanic water masses, compressible effects in the oceans, coupling of the mass and heat transports, importance of the nonlinearities of the equation of state for seawater for the multidecadal variability of the oceans
