Funding

Tuition fees for postgraduate taught MScs listed above (for the academic year 2012/2013) are:

  • UK and European Union students £4725
  • Overseas (all non EU nationals) £13645

We unfortunately, in common with all other like Departments in the UK, cannot currently offer Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Advanced Course Studentships to fully support selected UK applicants. This is a consequence of Government funding cuts.

Overseas students from least developed nations’ Meteorological Services are sometimes sponsored by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) to undertake the MSc Applied Meteorology and the recently introduced MSc Applied Meteorology and Climate with Management. Such students must first be made a formal offer by the Faculty of Science at the University before applying to WMO for support.

For privately funded students, the University requires guarantees that funds are available to cover both fees and maintenance. The University maintains a page stating fees and maintenance costs. These are updated every year. In general, the responsibility for finding suitable funding lies with the student. Unlike in the United States, this University has no teaching or research assistant or scholarship schemes.
