As mentioned at the end, rehearsals from now on will be twice weekly (Monday and Thursday Lunchtimes). Please try to learn your lines before the next meeting. And we'll need to make as many rehearsals as possible. Monday Meeting will focus on scenes 1 and 2. Thursday Meeting will focus on scene 3, songs and any other business. As for songs, we need a song written for the baddies. There isn't any necessity for the tune to be Christmas based, just something that everyone knows (i.e. don't ask me!). Two of the three songs that have been written are as follows.: ********************************************************************* The Christmas Sonde (Written by Graham Gladman) Tune: The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting on an open fire) Phd students coasting into the mire Supervisors nipping at your nose Panto Singing that is rather dire With no rehearsals, and it shows Everybody knows, QG Theory and El Nino Help to make the season bright Hoskins & Thorpe will their eyes all a-glow With their GCM to keep them up all night (Bridge) They know that outputs on its way With analysis forever and a day But they can't beat this panto, might they try Cos this is 'Live and Met Die' And so I offer this in a daze (This verse x2) To every student and the staff too Thought its been sung better in many ways Merry Christmas to you! ********************************************************************** Rocking Around the High PV (Written by Gavin Winter) Tune: Rocking Around the Christmas Tree (by Mel & Kim) Rockin' around the high PV At the tropospheric fold Hangin' the Rossby wave across the sea So the polar air must hold. Rockin' around the high PV As we bring the lapse rate down Sweepin' the 5-2-2 line down South As the snow clouds come to town. You will get a baroclinic feelin' when you see, Isentropes all grouped together Now's the time for snowy weather Rockin' around the high PV (This verse x2) Where we don't need thermal shear, Even if we have to cross isobars We'll make Christmas white this year (And again with audience) ********************************************************************** Thanks for the effort/enthusiasm Graham
