Introduction

These pages discuss the diagnostic files which are produced by both the LEM, e.g. RUN0100.DG0001, (see LEM home page for more details) and Blasius, e.g. RUN100_1000.DAT. They explain the:

• history: how the Met Office read files in the DaViE format
• format: how the data is stored
• IDL programs: details IDL programs which can be used to read files in the DaViE format
• examples: how the data can be read in IDL

It's not necessary to know either the history or format of the files - in most cases - but some people will be interested.
