Decor: Used to be a pub - low beams and dimmed lights - very
cosy.
Music: Indian Stock Aitken and Waterman.
- Helium "Happy Birthday" balloons and bowls of droopy red roses
were festooned across the table when we arrived - top marks for
effort. Here's a picture of the Birthday Boy contemplating his
balloon:
Time to get served: Can't remember.
Favourite menu description: On the Raan-E-Guddsa: "Marinated
lamb shank slow cooked overnight in a tomato & onion sauce, making the
lamb so soft it falls off the bone, finished with brandy, served with
vegetables of the day and lemon rice - Highly Recommended". Other
descriptions were more brief.
- Friendly waiters, although there were about 20 of us and they
sometimes served one half of the table then forgot the other.
Popadums & Chutneys: 5 dips: lime pickle, mango chutney,
yoghurt, onion and that sweet red stuff: nice.
Lime pickle: Potent and chunky.
Onion bagees (£2.75): 4 small balls "crispy and tasty" with
salad and dips (yoghurt and red stuff).
MAIN COURSES AND DESERTS | Very good |
Lamb Tikka: "Sizzling! 4/5" (Christopoulos).
Chicken Madras: "Excellent but hot - my lips are burning, but I
think I'll try a Vindaloo next time - 4/5" (Neale).
Chicken Korma Badana: "Quite nice - very green: lots of
corriander; I prefer a straight Korma though."
Lamb Tikka Massala: "Generous amount of meat!"
Seafood Korai (£10.95): "Pleasant, but mostly mussels."
Lamb Korai: "Moist and tender, very fulfilling" (Swift).
Aloo Mumtaz: "Nice, tasty: 4/5" (Dixon).
- Enormous plates.
- Mushroom rice very good.
- A whole page of the menu was devoted to seafood specialities.

- Sweet Lassi: very sweet but good.
- Sunday all-you-can-eat Lunch Buffet is available for £5.95 each:
highly recommended by Liz & Rich.
- Hot towels were opened personally by the waiter. After he'd
fiddled around with the first 20 the remainder were a bit lukewarm.
- Two bottles of free champagne were provided. I didn't see any of
it though.
- There were lots of uneaten vegetable side dishes that we didn't
order.
Top place, well worth a visit. Cost us £26 each - not bad
considering all the stuff we got. There's another good one in Bourne
End the name of which escapes me - their speciality is the two "sweet
balls" for desert. Took a while in coming and for some reason the
waiter's eyes were watering when he delivered it. Anyway, we award the
