Research summary
My research group aims to improve the understanding of cloud formation and evolution. The tools that we use toward this end are primarily high-resolution numerical simulations, ranging from numerical weather prediction (NWP) models to large-eddy simulations. The goal of our numerical experiments, which are motivated and verified by real-world observations, is to develop simple conceptual and analytical models that isolate important physical mechanisms and aid operational forecasting
.Active projects
Orographic and island precipitation in the tropics
Small-scale mechanisms of orographic precipitation enhancement
 Predictability of convection in COPS
 Anchoring of convective storms
