The Weather Game exists to give members of the University of Reading and associated institutions the opportunity to pit their weather forecasting skills against other students and staff. No previous experience in weather forecasting is necessary, but it probably wouldn't hurt to spend a few minutes checking the forecast charts before making your prediction.
If you're brand new to the Weather Game, you might want to start by reading the General Instructions to get a feel for how to play the game. Once you're done there, you can go ahead and register your pseudonym. Pseudonyms add not only anonymity, but also a bit of humour to the game. Try to make yours something inventive and witty, but not offensive, and potentially win a prize for your efforts.
Once you've registered your pseudonym, you should submit an entry for the current week's competition. Your entry must be received by Friday at 7pm (local time). If you make a mistake in your entry, you can always submit another: The system will only score your most recent entry, provided the entry was made before the deadline. All forecasts cover the period of Saturday at 0900 GMT (9am, 10am during Daylight Savings) through Monday at 0900 GMT.
Entries are typically scored on Monday morning and the results are posted Monday afternoon. You can view the League Table to see where you stand, or see a detailed breakdown of your score for each week. Note that you can only see the latter feature for your own account.
If you have any questions, you can e-mail Andy Barrett, who currently runs the Weather Game.
Enjoy playing the Weather Game!
