Peter Clark's Current Research Interests
This page is (always) under construction and incomplete!
Much of my research over the last 30 years has been associated with the Met Office's Unified Model. For details of this model see the Met Office's web pages.I belong to the Mesoscale Group.
Current research interests include:
- Convective-scale and hectometric Numerical Weather Prediction.
- Convection and turbulence in Grey-Zone(s).
- Mesoscale structure of extra-tropical cyclones.
- Urban surface exchange.
Research Projects:
- Improving model representation of turbulent atmospheric processes - the Parachute Project.
- CoI of Hi-Fi : A novel turbulence closure for high-fidelity numerical weather prediction.
- CoI of Putting the morph into CoMorph : Adapting convection parametrisation for the hard grey zone.
- Understanding and Representing Atmospheric Convection across Scales - the ParaCon project.
- PI of the Circle-A Project.
- CoI of the Paracon Phase-2 Project.
- Sting Jets in severe Northern European windstorms.
- Stochastic Parametrization of convection (PhD project at University of Surrey).
- Flooding from Intense Rainfall: CoI on FRANC Project Exploiting new observations and data assimilation techniques for improved forecasting of convective precipitation. (Website yet to be created.
- Urban surface exchange.
